Woolgrass is a clump-forming aquatic native grass with arching basal green leaves and upright flower stems. The inflorescence has dark green florets that mature to reddish-brown with a wooly appearance in early summer and matures by fall when the foliage turns yellow-brown. The wooly florets persist through winter. Grows best in full sun and wet well-drained soils.
