Rugosa Rose is a sprawling, thorny deciduous shrub with serrated dark green foliage that turns yellow in fall.  Flowers can range from shades of white to pink nad appear singularly or in clusters from mid spring into summer with a sporadic fall bloom.  If you do not deadhead to extend the bloom, orange rosehips will follow the flowers and ripen by fall.  Best grown in full sun and rich, moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils.  Rugosa is noted for excellent disease resistance.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Medium Maintenance. Roses are susceptible to powdery mildew, black spot, rust, and rose rosette and require regular fungicide in humid areas that experience a lot of rainfall.  Pest issues include aphids, borers, scale, mites thrips, midges, and leafhoppers.  Rugosa is suckering and will form dense colonies unless restrained.
