Knotweed is a shrubby clump-forming perennial with lace-shaped dark green foliage.  Tall panicles of creamy-white flower plums resembling goats-beard bloom through summer and fade to tan in early fall.  Best flowering in full sun and moist, well-drained soils.  Drought and humidity tolerant once established.
