Spinach is a cool-season leafy annual that has a basal habit of edible green foliage used as a vegitable or salad green. Can be harvest as baby greens at 30-35 days, or as mature leaves at 50-55 days. Grows best in partial sun and fertile well-drained soils. Prone to bolting in summer heat so better planted with harvest time in spring or fall.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance plant. No serious pests or diseases. Dry soil can trigger bolting. Potential disease problems include downy mildew, powdery mildew, shot hole, bottom rot, septoria leaf spot, Botrytis and wilt. Potential insect pests include aphids, snails, slugs, leafminers and whiteflies. Mosiac virus may appear.
