Mulch in winter and protect from winter winds- winter stressed plants are more susceptible to disease. Cut back after flowering to prevent leggy growth. Potential diseases include botrytis, leaf spots, canker, twig blight, crown rot, root rot and virus. Potential insect pests include aphids, mealybugs and scale. Poisonous- handle with gloves and do not plant in area where brushing against is likely.
