Dragon Head Bamboo is a small evergreen clumping bamboo with short and slender bright green canes with conspicuous red sheaths and dense glossy blue-green foliage with dull grey-green undersides. The canes are upright when young and begin to arch under the weight of its foliage as it ages. Grows best with afternoon shade in Southern climates and moist well-drained soils. Dragon Head is non-invasive.
