The Seiryu Japanese Maple, also known by its scientific name Acer palmatum 'Seiryu', is a deciduous tree native to Japan. It's unique among Japanese maples for its upright growth habit and finely dissected leaves.
Here are some key features of the Seiryu Japanese Maple:
-
Foliage: The leaves are finely dissected, giving them a lace-like appearance. They are green in the summer and turn vibrant shades of red and orange in the fall.
-
Size: This tree typically grows to a height of 10-15 feet and spreads 8-12 feet wide.
Grows best in rich, moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils. Prefers full sun in cooler climates, but needs afternoon shade in southern areas.
