Hens and Chicks is a mat-forming evergreen succulent with thick fleshy foliage that grows in rosettes. The mother rosette (hen) spreads out with horizontal stems to seed offsets (chicks). In summer a tall stalk rises from the hen sporting clusters of flowers. The hen dies after flowering, giving space for the chicks to grow. Best color with full sun and dry to medium well-drained soils. Drought and heat tolerant once established.
This is a mixed selection of 12 from the following cultivars: 'Brown', 'Commander Hay', 'Kalinda', 'Red Beauty', 'Red Rubin', 'Silverine', and 'Sunset'.
