Cinderella Swamp Milkweed is an upright native perennial often found in swamps, rivers, and wet meadows with green lance-like leaves.  Tight clusters of small, vanilla-scented deep pink flowers with pink to white crowns bloom in summer.  Performs best in full sun and moist to wet soils, but can tolerate average soils.  The milky sap released from damaged stems is toxic if ingested.

Asclepias are the sole host plants for the Monarch Butterfly, and also hosts the Queen Butterfly and various moth larva.  The nectar provides for various pollinators and attracts hummingbirds.  Learn more about planting for butterflies with Georgia natives with this brochure.
