Fire Star Improved Dianthus is a dwarf mat-forming evergreen perennial with dark grey green foliage and sturdy hairy stems. Clusters of fragrant, vivid red flowers with a bold central eye pattern bloom first in late spring into summer, and can be extended into fall if deadheaded. Blooms best in full sun and slightly alkaline, moist, and well-drained soil.
