Anthony Waterer Spirea is a compact mounded deciduous shrub with oval sharp-toothed leaves with a reddish-purple tinge to new growth that matures to blue-green and reddens in fall.  Flat-topped clusters of reddish-purple flowers cover the plant in later spring to summer. Grows best in full sun and well-drained soils.  Removed spent flowers to encourage additional bloom.  Good resistance to powdery mildew.
