Columbia Star Thornless Blackberry is a relatively new cultivar developed by the USDA-ARS breeding program in cooperation with Oregon State University. It has quickly gained popularity among both commercial growers and home gardeners for its outstanding qualities. Produces exceptionally large, firm berries with glossy black color and outstanding sweet flavor. Good resistance to common blackberry diseases including fruit rot. Requires approximately 500-600 chill hours.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Medium Maintenance.  Water regularly. Remove fruiting canes to the ground immediately after harvest, non-fruiting canes can be tip pruned in summer.  Generally performs best when staked. Wilt, Anthracnose, and botrytis can be serious disease problems. Cane and crown borers are potential pest issues.
