Slash Pine
Pinus elliottii
Slash Pine is a tall, fast-growing native conifer tree with a slender crown that becomes rounded or flat with maturity and drops its lower branches as it ages. Its flexible blue-green needles are evergreen. The elongated oval cones mature to glossy brown with fine prickles. Grows best in full sun with moist acidic soils.
Pinus elliottii serves as a host for the Imperial Moth.
