Platt's Black Brass Buttons is a dense spreading perennial that forms a mat of delicate soft-textured foliage that resembles olive and near-black ferns.  It can tolerate light foot traffic, making it an excellent groundcover.  Small yellow button-like flowers bloom in early summer.  Grows best with rich loamy acidic soils.  Intolerant of drought.  Tolerates light shade, particularly in hot summer climates.
