Yellow Flag Iris is a clumping marginal perennial that spreads with rhizomes. the long sword-like grey-green foliage fans upwards. Sturdy branching stalks that grow from the center of the plant are topped by bright yellow flowers with a darker yellow center that blooms from late spring into summer, attracting bees. Grows best in standing water with full sun and rich, slightly acidic water-retentive soils. An aggressive spreader.
Do Not plant near natural waterways or plant in midwestern states- It can be a noxious weed.
