Bananappeal Yellow Anise is a small upright evergreen shrub with aromatic foliage that is chartreuse in shade and turns more yellow in sun. The late spring flowers yellow-green are insignificant but are followed by the non-edible star-shaped seed capsules that have a licorice scent - DO NOT INGEST! The plant is not a substitute for the culinary spice and flavorings obtained from Illicium verum. Grows best in rich, moist well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established. Bananappeal has improved sun tolerance and disease resistance.
