Halka Honeylocust is a thornless variety of the fast-growing Honeylocust tree with smaller foliage and a full crown that is the widest of the honeylocust selections. The fine-textured foliage is a dark green and turns a bright yellow before defoliating early in fall. The large brown seedpods it develops are edible when they ripen in fall and can be used for animal fodder. Best color in full sun and moist, well-drained soils. Drought and black walnut tolerant once established. Poor tolerance of air pollution.
