LSU Purple Fig is a deciduous fruiting tree that produces two crops a year and is salt-tolerant enough to be grown on the coast. It has an interesting winter silhouette and lobed palmate mid-green leaves. The sweet-smelling fruits are produced in spring and summer and ripen to a dark reddish-purple with pink flesh. Highly adaptable, but provides the best fruit in full sun and well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established.
