Pineapple Guava is an evergreen shrub with attractive flowers and edible frits.  The thick leathery foliage has silvery undersides and stays green year round.  Its distinct fleshy white flowers with purple centers and red stamen bloom late spring to mid summer and are followed by waxy grey-green fruits.   When ripe, the guava like fruits are highly fragrant and have a minty pineapple to apple flavor. The fruits fall to the ground when mature, making harvest easy.  Flowers best in full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soils.  Both the fruits and flowers are edible.
