Midnight Crape Myrtle is a compact dwarf shrub with a rounded habit.  The disease-resistant foliage is maroon-purple and holds longer in fall than other purple-leaved crape myrtles.  The color contrasts nicely against the large panicles of deep pink flowers that bloom early in summer and will bloom again later in summer if the first flush of flowers is deadheaded.  Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil.
