False Japanese Cleyera is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with high branches and rounded crown. The new growth emerges bronze and matures to leathery dark green leaves with a paler underside. Its fragrant downward-facing clusters of white flowers bloom in late spring followed by shiny black fruit. Prefers part sun and moist, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant when established.
