Iwai Nishiki Flowering Quince is a dense, small deciduous shrub with a rounded habit and glossy dark green foliage.  Large deep red double flowers and yellow stamen bloom in profusion from late winter into spring attracting butterflies. The small yellow fruits that ripen in fall are sour fresh but good for jams.  Prefers full sun and rich well-drained soil.  Drought tolerant once established.
