Golden Barberry is a compact branching deciduous shrub valued for its vibrant foliage.  Its leaves emerge in spring bright sunshine yellow with orange tones that fades into lemon-green in summer and eventually gains a burgundy tone in fall.  Golden Barberry has tiny inconspicuous yellow flowers and sparse fruits. Best color in full sun.  Foliage grows full to ground making Golden Barberry an excellent filler plant. Drought and deer resistant.

Barberry has known use of the root bark as an anthelmintic, antiseptic and febrifuge, and can be used orally as a treatment for various enteric infections.*
