Caitlin's Giant Bugleweed is a spreading herbaceous perennial that forms a dense carpet-like mat even in shady areas, making it an excellent choice for a groundcover. Large green leaves have attractive purple-bronze hues and feature deep blue flower spikes from spring to summer. Flowers best in part sun and moist, well-drained soils. It can be an aggressive spreader if not planted in a contained area. Not good for areas with foot traffic.
Bugleweed has medicinal properties that is traditionally used for the treatment of wounds or sores and arresting hemorrhages. It is also used for coughs, fever, and normalizing the heart rate. Do not use if pregnant.*
