The workhorse of all shovels!
The 12 ga. forged blade is 8-3/4-inch x 11-1/2-inch. A key benefit of forging is the ability to change the steel's thickness at critical stress areas. The lower socket, shank and top blade are thicker for extra strength. The blade then tapers thinner toward the edge to cut more efficiently. This line has the highest weight and price, but it's an investment you'll only need to make once - these shovels last! This A.M. Leonard round point shovel has a 30" ash wood handle and a D-grip. Perfect for digging under a tight spot like under a shrub. Forged blade and solid shank.
- Round point blade
- Turned step on top of blade
- Solid shank blade
- Made from 12-gauge heat-treated steel
- Ash wood handle with D-grip
- Round point blade can penetrate a variety of soil types
- The turned step is easier on your feet, especially when wearing soft-soled shoes
- The solid shank blade eliminates mud build-up, is stronger than open-back and even welded-back blades
- Blades are not cheap stamped metal; will not bend under normal use
- Wood handle absorbs impact during use. D-grip gives excellent leverage
