Night Lights Purple Holly is an evergreen tree with an informal pyramidal habit. Its long spineless green foliage emerges pinkish-purple and resembles a cherry laurel. The tiny flower clusters are a lovely purple in late spring, if pollinated they give way to shiny red berries that can persist into spring. Best planted in consistently moist, well-drained acidic soils. Hollies are dioecious and need both male and female plants to produce fruit.
Syn. with Ilex chinensis.
