Purple Candles Chinese Astilbe is a tall upright herbaceous perennial with dark green foliage. Thick panicles of dark reddish-purple flowers bloom above the leaves in mid summer and soften to a lighter purple as they age. Flowers best in part shade and rich, moist soils. Astilbe are deer and rabbit resistant.
