Boxelder Maple is a fast-growing native deciduous tree with a trunk that is often short and divides into multiple branches, forming a broad and irregular crown. The odd-pinnate compound leaves with lightly serrated leaflets are vibrant green with an undistinguished yellow fall color. Insignificant spring flowers are often followed by samaras. Grows best in full sun and well-drained soils.
