The Pink Icicle Camellia, also known as Camellia japonica 'Pink Icicle', is a beautiful cultivar of the Camellia japonica species. It is highly regarded for its elegant, semi-double to peony-like flowers and its ability to add a splash of color to gardens during the winter and early spring.

The Pink Icicle Camellia typically grows to a height of 6 to 10 feet with a spread of 4 to 6 feet. It has glossy, dark green leaves that provide an attractive backdrop to the flowers. The flowers are a soft pink color, with multiple layers of petals that create a ruffled or fringed appearance.

This cultivar prefers partial shade to filtered sunlight and well-drained, acidic soil. It is important to provide regular watering, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Mulching around the base of the plant can help retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Medium maintenance. Too much water retention can increase susceptibility to fungal diseases, including root rot, black mold, blight, canker, anthracnose, and leaf spots.  Watch for aphids and spider mites.   Yellowing leaves indicate acidity too low. Fertilize monthly in spring and summer. If desired, remove all but one bud from each cluster to increase the size of the flower. Prune immediately after flowering.
