Red Peacock Ornamental Kale is a cool season annual with deeply serrated basal foliage that has purple ribs on the vibrant green outer leaves with red inner leaves and turns burgundy as the weather cools. The foliage is not as flavorful as the culinary types, but still edible. The leaves have the best flavor after the first frost. Best if grown in rich, consistently moist well-drained loamy soils.
