Black Cardinal Philodendron is a hybrid variety of the tropical non-climbing evergreen shrub with upright glossy foliage that unfurls as a bright burgundy color and darken to near black with age. They are self-heading, which means they grow new foliage in layers from a single stalk which gives them an upright shape. Grows best with bright indirect sun with protection from afternoon sun and consistently moist well-drained soils. Black Cardinal is an easy care house plant but toxic to pets! Place in an area that cannot be reached by them.
