Shindeshojo Japanese Maple is a dwarf deciduous tree with a well branched rounded crown. Small palmate green leaves emerge a bright pink to cherry red that holds for a month before greening, then turns brilliant orange to scarlet in fall. Small non-showy umbels in mid-spring are followed by samaras. Grows best in rich, moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils. Prefers full sun in cooler climates, or afternoon shade in southern areas.
