Einstein Summersweet a is a dense deciduous shrub with unusually long and curly racemen sporting highly fragrant white flowers in summer. The oblong dark green leaves have a yellow to golden brown fall color. Best color when grown in full sun and moist well-drained soils. Einstein can tolerate deep shade.
Clethra alnifolia is noted for its special value in attracting large numbers of native bees. The nectar also attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, and the seeds provide food for birds.
