Sapphire Indigo Clematis is a compact deciduous perennial groundcover vine that can form a 3' mound of trailing, arching stems or can be trained to climb. Its luscious dark green foliage has no fall color. The deep purple to indigo flowers with dark anthers bloom continuously from early spring into fall. Prefers full sun and moist well-drained soil.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. Susceptible to wilt and stem rot, which can be fatal. Other potential diseases include powdery mildew, leaf spots, and rust. Potential insect pests include aphids, vine weevils, slugs/snails, scale and earwigs. Watch for spider mites. If possible, plant the roots in the area with afternoon shade and climb the foliage into full sun for best results.
