Webster Hazelnut is a multi-trunked compact deciduous tree with an open canopy and an early to mid season pollinizer. The strong production of medium sized nuts have excellent quality and very popular to use with chocolate. The showy male flowers bloom on catkins in late winter into spring before the leaves come in. Grows best in rich, moist, well-drained soils. McDonald can produce 20+lbs of nuts and has a high resistance to filbert blight and bud blight, as well as very low instances of mold.
