Mardi Gras Glossy Abelia is a compact evergreen shrub with lightly arching branches and small variegated foliage on bright red stems that turn brown with age. The green leaves with cream edging emerge with a bright pink flush and the variegated edges earn a golden bronze tone in fall. Small, softly fragrant shell pink flowers dust the plant from summer into fall attracting bees and butterflies. Flowers best in full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soils. Very drought tolerant once established.
