Christmas Cactus is a popular tropical succulent often used as a gift or houseplant. Its unusual flat, leaf-like segments arch as it grows creating a cascading effect and are topped with layered fuchsia like flowers in late fall or winter. Needs partial sun and dry to average sharply-drained soils.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. Water when the first inch of soil is dry to the touch, soak to the roots and dump any drained water so it doesn't sit in water. Root rot may occur in case of overwatering. Common houseplant pests problems include spider mites, aphids, scale, and mealybugs. To induce initial bloom keep it in a completely dark place for 12-14 hours. May drop unopened flower buds if soils dry out or a sudden change in temperature.
