Hachiya Persimmon is a delightful fruiting tree known for its elongated heart-shaped astringent fruits that ripen in late fall and are excellent for baking. It's important to allow the fruit to fully soften for its sweet honeyed flavor to emerge. Grows best with full sun and moist well-drained soils. At full ripeness Hachiya should feel like a water balloon or over ripe tomato. Self-fertile.
