Black Beauty Eggplant is a robust annual with broad purple tinted foliage. Lovely drooping violet flowers are followed by large dark purple to near-black egg shaped fruits. The production is so heavy it is best to stake the plant. Best grown in full sun and rich well-drained soils.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. Keep soils moist. Susceptible to wilt. Hornworms, beetles, and cutworms can be an issue. Eggplants are very sensitive to cold so do not transplant until the soil temperatures at night are consistently above 65F. Cut with a knife to harvest to prevent damage.
