Desert Bloom 2 Hens and Chicks is a mat-forming evergreen succulent that grows in broad rosettes of pointed gray green fleshy foliage with a deep purple-red blush that intensifies in winter. The mother Rosset(hen) spreads out with horizontal stems to seed offsets (chicks). Infrequently in summer a short stalk rises from the hen sporting clusters of light pink flowers. The hen dies after flowering, giving space for the chicks to grow. Best color with full sun and dry to medium well-drained soils. Drought and heat tolerant once established.
