Purple Heart is a native herbaceous perennial with large burgundy flushed lily-like foliage on trailing stems. Tiny 3-petaled pink flowers last for only a day but bloom continuously on the stiff stems above the foliage for several weeks in spring. Grows best with shade and moist well-drained acidic soils. Good heat and drought tolerance.
