Orient Express Eggplant is a robust annual with broad purple tinted foliage ready to harvest in 60 days. Lovely drooping violet flowers are followed by long dark purple to near-black fruits with a mild flavor. The production is so heavy it is best to stake the plant. Best grown in full sun and rich well-drained soils. Orient Express is slow to emerge but is ready to harvest early.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. Keep soils moist. Susceptible to wilt. Hornworms, beetles, and cutworms can be an issue. Eggplants are very sensitive to cold so do not transplant until the soil temperatures at night are consistently above 65F. Cut with a knife to harvest to prevent damage.
