Cherry Red Dianthus is a compact mat-forming perennial with tidy dark green foliage and sturdy hairy stems that do not flop. The large cherry red flowers with white stamen have a spicy fragrance and bloom first in spring and can continue to intermediately bloom through fall if deadheaded. Blooms best in full sun and slightly alkaline, moist, and well-drained soil.
