Blackbird Euphorbia is a compact evergreen perennial that grows in a mound. Its upright whorls emerge dark red and mature to deep green, or near black purple in full sun. Inflorescences of tiny yellow-green flowers bloom on burgundy stems from late spring into summer, attracting bees and butterflies, and the brackets can darken to burgundy if left on the plant. Best shape in full sun and dry, well-drained soils. Broken stems have a milky white sap that can cause significant skin irritation and is poisonous if ingested.
