5 Highlights Celebrating ServeScape's 2-Year Anniversary

On the first day of Spring in March of 2020, our Founder and CEO, Mario Cambardella set out on a mission – a mission to launch a first-of-its-kind e-commerce marketplace and online landscape design studio.

The goal was to give customers a safe and convenient way to purchase plants with a phone in their pocket and have them delivered. ServeScape was thus born.

"On March 10th, 2020 I left my position as Urban Agriculture Director of the City of Atlanta to start ServeScape,” says Mario. “And then a pandemic happened. We launched March 18th, 2020 to a new world, new rules, new challenges, and new opportunities."

Despite the pandemic, ServeScape quickly proved we could solve problems in the landscaping space from inspiration to installation. Here are five top highlights from two years of ServeScape!

1. A Growing Team

ServeScape team

When ServeScape began, we were a small team of four, including two field agents who could do site visits and make recommendations on how to best transform a landscape.

Days were spent facilitating orders, delivering plants, and completing site consultations. By March 30, 2020, we already had four orders to date and facilitated about 15 deliveries.

Over the past two years, our team has grown to sixteen members. From landscape designers to marketers, ServeScape is now working on expanding our reach in the metro-Atlanta area.

2. More Plant Joy

Our roots stem from being a curator of plants. Our selection of plants and collections have grown significantly these past years. We have over 3500 plants profiles, ~800 plant types in stock, and 12 collections to choose from.

Whether you’re looking for trees and shrubs or flowers and vines, you’re sure to find what you need from our inventory. Plants are then delivered straight to your door. You can also purchase supplies such as mulch and compost to ensure your plants thrive.

Thanks to sourcing our inventory directly in Georgia (which also benefits the local economy), we offer competitive pricing and higher quality products than big-box retailers.

Our inventory isn’t limited to outdoor plants either. In February 2022, ServeScape was thrilled to partner with Brandon and Cameron of Plant Nerds. This partnership gives our customers access to even more indoor houseplants.

“Homeowners and landscape professionals alike now have a better selection of indoor plants for their interior landscape projects, at a better price, delivered within a few days,” says Mario.

3. Beautiful & Sustainable Landscape Designs

Have a vision for your landscape but not sure how to put it all together?

Just like in the beginning, ServeScape provides professional landscape design services so our community of customers know they have the right plant for the right place.

We offer five different design packages to fit your landscaping needs. We also have four designers who have years of experience in horticulture and design. They are ready to offer expert consultations to design a landscape you love. Our portfolio has continued to expand over the years.

From formal vegetable gardens to Midtown Atlanta courtyards, we are proud to create designs our customers love.

Another highlight? For two years, we’ve also had the privilege to design for HGTV’s home reno show, Rock the Block. Designs for exterior spaces complement contestants’ interior design visions.

4. An Ever-Expanding Network

ServeScape has developed a strong network of Georgia-grown plants and suppliers. This network is crucial to ensure plants are climatized to Georgia’s unique weather conditions. It’s also vital to ServeScape’s overall mission.

“A lot of resources are poured into aesthetic beauty rather than food producing landscaping and urban agriculture,” says Mario. “We are trying to change the relationship we have with the landscape around us. Let’s grow food, not lawns. We want to lead with beautiful and resilient landscapes.”

As such, ServeScape has a hyperlocal supply chain with a regional reach. According to Mario, “We get material from farmers who are responsibly growing material for peak performance for years to come.”

He adds, “We’re committed to Georgia Grown in this hyper-local supply chain because we think it renders the best plant material that Atlanta homeowners can buy.”

5. Hundreds of Happy Customers

Don’t just take our word for it: ServeScape has many customers who are thrilled with both their plant purchases and landscape designs.
