Betty Magnolia is a slow-growing compact deciduous tree with large fragrant cup shaped purple-red flowers with white centers that bloom in late spring before the foliage emerges. The flowers may erratically re-bloom in summer. The obviate leaves emerge with copper-red tones and mature to dark green before earning yellow or bronze hues in fall. Best color in full sun and moist, slightly-acidic, well-drained soil.
